No, I’m not dead yet. No, the “Doomsday” project isn’t dead yet either, although it’s definitely in a coma at the moment. After spending 10-12 hours a day in front of a computer terminal I’ve found that yeah, it’s surprisingly difficult to work up the enthusiasm to sit in front of a monitor for another 3-5 hours when I get home! But don’t worry… eventually the bug will bite again and I’ll squeeze another act or so out.
Meanwhile, a teaser for 2012!

Yeah baby, yeah! Star Trek 2012!
This image hit the ‘net over the weekend, and there’s some debate over whether it’s official, but who cares?! It’s a great shot of the new Enterprise, which is not an easy thing to do given her, um, challenging proportions.

It is a nice picture, but I’m still not comfortable with those noticeably uncircumcised nacelles.

It’s still ok. I don’t like how the camera is placed far in the back and zoomed in. It makes the secondary hull and nacelles look tiny in comparison to the saucer section.
There’s just no excitement.

The horrendous shape of the secondary hull combined with the warp engine pylons going straight into the shuttle bay is too much for me. They took a once graceful ship and turned it into an out of proportion mess. I’ve tried to like this version of the Enterprise and I just can’t do it.

Its the most horrendous representation of the Enterprise ever. Its an insult and its shows the people who created this…shape…are not familiar with STAR TREK at all. However, you can tell they were STAR WARS fans…

To put the above in clinical terms: “Yuck.”

Love your work.
I’m a bit a Trekkie myself.
I happen to do audio restoration and re-mastering. If you’re having problems with your Star Trek Episode audio, I should be able to fix it for you – for free. Just export your finished Youtube segment audio and send it to me via one of those large file uploading services. Give me the login info. and downloading instructions.
When you get it back, shut off the audio track for your video (on your editing program) and add another empty track below it and put the fixed version in that track.

Thanks… but it’s not really a technical issue that is keeping me from working on this… more of a lack of time and frankly, weariness. I’m an enterprise software architect by day and it’s hard to spend 10+ hours a day at work in front of a bank of computer monitors, only to come home… and sit in front of another bank of monitors!
I have to admit I have been getting “the itch” again lately, but it’s not to the point where I am ready to scratch it. Not just yet.
Thanks for stopping by!
