Part 1 of what I project will be eight parts has been posted at YouTube! Since I revised the appearance of the planet killer somewhat for its debut in Act II, I have to re-render the viewscreen inserts from the end of Act I before I can post part 2 of 8… hopefully that will be completed in the next week or so.
And yes, I plastered a permanent “watermark” copyright on all of the live action footage from 1967. My intent here (indeed, my intent all along) is not to steal from Paramount/CBS Video or deprive them of a DVD sale. The original footage is posted merely to present my revised effects in the context of the original episode–nothing more. Hopefully, the constant watermark won’t be too annoying, but I feel that it’s necessary. ‘Nuff said.

Hi Scott, sorry I’ve been away for a while. As usual, you have done a fantastic job here. I am continually blown away by your attention to lighting and reflection.
My only complaint is the beginning, from 0:22 to 0:38. Your original version of this opening had the light reflecting across the hull, bringing out the aztec detail of the hull plating. That shot was so jaw-droppingly beautiful and stunningly realistic it made me consider you a graphic arts deity. I am heartbroken that you did not keep it.
Now for the good:
You brought back some of that lovely hull reflection in 3:07-3:12 and 3:31-3:36. Thank you.
3:54-4:08; Thanks for correcting the ship’s angle in flight. The jacked-up look of the original always bothered me.
4:15- 4:26; 5:14-5:21; 5:44-5:48; Your Constellation looks great. I like how you used some 2nd pilot markings and I appreciate how you paid homage to the original by retaining the wider bridge dome from the AMT/Ertl model. Nice touch.
4:25-4:29; This shot proves you are a cinemagraphic genius! I LOVE how you combined the shots that were originally separate at 4:25 by bringing the Enterprise into forefront. It works so much better with the original music.
Thanks again for your magnificent work.

Oh, sorry I forgot to mention. Don’t worry about the disclaimers you had to put on original footage. I first watched this episode on a snowy black & white TV, a few lines of text don’t bother me.

I think there is going to be one final edit to everything before I consider this “finished”, so you may get your wish on the opening shot.

Hello again. Sorry dude, but after thinking it over for a few months, I still prefer your original version of 0:22 – 0:38. I find myself frequently going back to YouTube to watch that clip in SpockBoy’s compilation. It’s nice to watch after a rough day. If I could pay to have a copy of it I would. Yes, I realize I sound creepy but yes, I like the clip that much.
